Smart chatbot maker Gupshup acquires voice, video specialist Knowlarity

Gossip, The majestic San Francisco-based messaging platform maker that puts smarts in customer-facing apps has announced its acquisition. Nolarity Communications Reported for 100 million. Gupshup, founded in 2004, provides Teamchat, a chatbot creation service, that allows developers to think, deploy and publish highly customizable chatbots across more than 30 channels.

Gupshup enables its users to communicate and share their short messages privately or publicly to engage and retain customers. The platform handles over 4 billion messages per month in 2021.

Research has shown that consumers who buy products online clearly prefer to text and communicate over the phone. According to a nationwide survey by OpenMarket, voting millennials have a strong fondness for texting in that segment of their population, on their communication preferences.

The acquisition of Nolarity adds an important asset to the gossip front-line conversational messaging suite, complementing the company’s offerings with its pre-existing strengths in voice and video communication and RCS (rich communication services) and chatbot messaging.

According to Gartner Research, Nolarity operates in the voice-based conversation engagement market, ready to transform contact centers, IVR systems and smart voice systems, accounting for a total addressable market of about $ 18 billion in 2024.
